Cookie policy
Exactly what Calclulo stores on your device, and why. Last updated 1 November 2026.
The short version
Calclulo sets one cookie, and it only remembers your choice in the cookie banner. If you press Accept all, Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics also load and set analytics cookies such as _ga so we can count visits. Essential only keeps them off. A few small items sit in your browser's local storage to make calculators more convenient, and this page lists every one.
Cookies and local storage
A cookie is a small file your browser keeps and sends back to the site on later visits. Local storage is a similar space in your browser, but its contents are not sent to us. They stay on your device and are read only by Calclulo's code running there. You can clear both from your browser's site-data settings.
The cookie we set
| Name | What it does | Lasts | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| calclulo_consent | Records whether you chose Accept all or Essential only, so we don't ask on every visit. It contains only the word "all" or "essential". | 12 months | First-party, essential |
It uses SameSite=Lax and, on secure connections, the Secure flag. It doesn't identify you and isn't shared.
What your browser may keep in local storage
None of these are cookies, and none are sent to our servers.
| Item | Purpose | When it is set |
|---|---|---|
| c:name-of-calculator | The last values you entered, so the calculator opens filled in. | After Accept all |
| gcalc:h | Up to twenty recent calculations from the global calculator. | After Accept all |
| cur:… | The currency you picked on finance calculators. | After Accept all |
| fx:v1 | Public exchange rates, kept for three hours so pages open quickly and work offline. No personal data. | On finance pages, whatever you chose |
| p: and n: items | Inputs you pinned or renamed from a calculator's options menu. | When you use those options |
| sb-…-auth-token | Your sign-in session. | Only if you sign in |
| calclulo_fv | A short-lived copy of your favourites list so it appears quickly. It lives in session storage and goes when you close the tab. | Only if you sign in |
| calclulo_next | The page you were on, so you return to it after signing in. Session storage, removed once you are back. | On the sign-in page |
Only the remembered values, the history and your currency choice depend on the cookie banner. Without Accept all, the currency you pick lasts until you leave the page.
Offline copies
Calclulo opens without a connection once you've visited it. Your browser keeps copies of our pages, styles, scripts and fonts, managed by a service worker, which is a small script running in your browser. They are the same public files anyone can download, contain nothing about you, and disappear when you clear site data.
What each choice does
Accept all. The cookie records your choice, analytics load, and your browser remembers calculator values, the global history and your currency.
Essential only. The cookie records that you said no. Analytics stay off and calculators open empty each time. Anything already remembered is removed when you choose this. Everything still works, you just retype your numbers. If you don't choose, we treat it as Essential only.
We ask first because remembered numbers leave a trace on the device. If you share a phone or computer, you may not want your salary or measurements waiting for the next person.
Third parties
We load no ad networks, social widgets or embedded videos. The only third party that can set a cookie through Calclulo is Google, and only after Accept all. Fonts come from our own domain. One more thing to know: on the sign-in page, or when you're signed in, your browser downloads a small open-source library from jsDelivr to talk to our sign-in provider. No cookie from us is involved, but jsDelivr can see your IP address, as any server can. Account handling is covered in the privacy policy.
Clearing it yourself
In Chrome and Edge, open "Cookies and site data" or "Delete browsing data". In Firefox, go to Privacy and Security, then "Cookies and Site Data". In Safari, open Privacy and choose "Manage Website Data". Search for "calclulo" and remove it. That deletes the cookie, remembered values, pins, offline copies and your sign-in on that device. It does not delete an account; email us for that, as described in the privacy policy.
Changing your mind
Reopen the choice any time with the button below. The banner will also return if you clear site data.
Do Not Track
We don't track you across sites or build profiles, so a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal has nothing extra to switch off. The site behaves the same either way.
Changes
If we add a new kind of storage, we'll list it here and ask before using it. Questions: hello@calclulo.com.
